Hi guys! I’m Tim from Create-A-Lase and today we are going to show you my top 5 workshop tools. In this article, you’ll see different machines and what types of topics we can make in the future, hence the things we can create by using each one of them. Also, we will talk about their main functions, so stay tuned!
Before we start here are the top 5 Workshop tools on our list:
Now let’s talk about each of the machines
- Fiber Laser Machine
- CO2 Laser Machine
- Epson Printer
- Sublimation Printer
- 3D Printer
- Fiber Laser
First is the Fiber laser. Mostly I use it to engrave unto steel and aluminums or things like that. If you’ll watch my youtube video you will see that I 3D printed a little chuck to place and engrave rings. I also made some wood pieces and used it as a platform to laser engrave or cut through materials using a fiber laser.
Like what we have mentioned in our previous article, Fiber Laser is functioned by passing a very small wavelength of light through a fiber optic cable. Ours is at 1.06um, which is so small it can etch steel, titanium, Aluminum even Gold and Silver.
- CO2 Laser
This machine is where we started the whole business with, this one is my first little baby, I’ve been using it for a few years now since 2011. The one I got here has a 457 x 305 bed that we can laser etch into glass and can cut through wood or leather just to name a few.
The CO2 laser machine emits a very powerful intense light that vaporizes and can cut through plastics, metal, paper, cloth, wood, hence some other materials, leaving a precision cut and clean markings.
- Epson Printer
The third machine we use is an Epson Printer, it is a wide format printer capable of printing A1 size photos. It does all the normal photo prints, canvas prints and basically normal high quality photos. We got some really nice inks loaded in there, so this machine is mainly based for printing images.
- Sublimation Printer
Next is a sublimation printer, I use this machine whenever I want to place images onto things. Basically like a printer though it can work on different materials like Aluminum, phone cases, jewelries, shirts and some sort of things. It works by printing through a transfer paper then using a heat press to transfer the images to a substrate. This printer can also print upto A1 or 610mm wide from a roll of paper.
- 3D Printer
Last but not the least is our 3D Printer. We also had it for quite a few years now and the one I have is the Ultimaker 2. Obviously we do stuff here to make some 3D prints like little parts, sockets, watch cases, Prints little parts, Ornaments, Cookie cutters, small models, prototypes, and so many things. The best tool to make any three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. 3D printing is really cool and you should try it.
And there you go, those are the top 5 tools I always use in my workshop. These will be the main ones you will frequently see in our future projects and tutorials then hopefully to catch your interest hence help you through creating stuff.
We hope you enjoyed reading this article and gave you some ideas on what tool to use for your next project.
Got a friend who loves to create things? Share this video with them and they might help you make some stuff in the future.
As always, we appreciate you taking some time to read our article. Thank you for your support! Stay Happy and Keep Making! ☺
